We’re talking skin care this week at Calithea Wellness.
What we eat can have a huge impact on the condition of our skin. Adding Collagen to our diet can be very beneficial to the health of our skin and hair.
This recipe for Chicken Bone Broth will give you an easy go-to meal or snack. Not only will you feel full for longer, your hair and skin will thank you!
Chicken Bone Broth
Prep: 10 mins
Cook time 12-24 hours or 6-8 hours in slow cooker
- 2-3 lbs chicken bones
- 6-8 chicken feet
- 1-2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 carrots, scrubbed
- 2 celery stalks
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp peppercorns
Add all ingredients to a large stockpot and cover with water. Cover the pot and bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and allow to simmer for up to 24 hours. Check periodically to skim the film on top and to add more water if needed.
When the broth is done, remove from heat and allow to cool for an hour or two. Strain the broth. Discard the bones and veg. Place the broth in the fridge. When completely cooled the broth will be gelatinous. That’s what you want. It’s loaded with collagen. The broth will keep in the fridge for up to one week. I like to portion mine in mason jars and store in the freezer for up to 3 months
